  • Portable for use with multiple filters
  • Accurate infrared detection technology

Determine media loss, locate uneven backwash locations in the bed, and solve other troubleshooting issues with Raven Filter Media Expansion Manager Systems. Systems measure media expansion in potable water plant gravity filters during backwash cycles, and let you identify optimum expansion levels of 25% to 50% to improve your water quality and prolong filter life.

These lightweight, easy-to-use devices consist of two pieces—an infrared sensor with 25'L cable and 6'L carbon fiber measurement arm, and an electronic controller with integrated counter. Choose between models with round or square rail clamps.

To use, simply clamp the system on a safety railing surrounding the filter bed with the measurement arm extended above the filter, away from a sidewall. The arm has a 5-ft reach and can be quickly relocated to different areas of the bed to verify expansion consistency. Use the manual-crank cabling on a spool between the controller and the marine-grade sensor probe to raise & lower the sensor to rest on top of the compacted media.

The controller and sensor let you consistently detect media density changes. When backwash begins and media begins to expand, the controller's LED indicator will illuminate. Raise the sensor off the bed by reeling in the cable. When the LED indicator turns off, the controller's integrated digital counter displays media expansion in inches or centimeters.

Includes: infrared sensor with 25'L cable, electronic controller, 6'L measurement arm, six AA batteries and a square rail clamp.
