The BJM shredder pump uses a cutting-type impeller with a tungsten carbide cutting tip attached to the pump impeller. Solids reduction is similar to that of a true grinder pump, but without all the maintenance. These pumps are also capable of running at much lower heads, which are common in lift stations. Cutting action occurs only when solids are present, otherwise it operates just like a standard submersible sewage pump.
