GA Air Release & Vacuum Valve 2" NPT(F) with Throttle Valve
Description
- For vertical well pumps
- Helps eliminate surges and water hammer
Air/vacuum valves in deep well installations purge air from system at start-up prior to check valve opening. They exhaust the air at a pressure that slows the ascent of the water column during start-up. They are also used to break the vacuum when the pump shuts down after the check valve closes and water drains into the well.
These valves exhaust air up to sonic velocity without blowing shut. Valves with throttling device allow air to enter the well column at full capacity in a vacuum situation, but provide adjustable control of the rate and pressure at which air is discharged during filling. This feature minimizes the shock, slam and surge that can occur when the line fills and the air/vacuum valve closes.
Valves are selected for both outflow (filling) and inflow (draining) capacity. Select for the larger of the two requirements. Engineering data can be faxed on request. Sizes up to 16" are available.
Note: Air/vacuum valves do not release air on an ongoing basis while systems are operating. For this, you need a straight air release valve.
